| 7/7/2011 | The MARTS Long Range Planning Committee, which was formed by the Board of Directors at it's June 8, 2011 meeting, held it's first meeting on December 1, 2011. This committee was charged with the mission of considering and providing guidance to the MARTS organization in areas relating to detail planning, foresight and future growth. The LRP will provide additional value to the membership through exploration of education via Web and conference based presentations while exploring other new educational avenues. Members appointed to the Committee are Jim Panza, TTX Corporation; Jerry Bohacik , GATX Corporation; Charles Dupin, Miner Enterprises; George Sokulski, Railway Age Magazine; and Dennis Weed, Chicago Freight Car Leasing Company and John Robertson, Secretary/Treasurer, MARTS. Each of the appointees are also members of the MARTS Board of Directors. |
| 12/1/2012 | The long Range Planning Committee announced today that it has gratefully accepted a donation of MARTS historical documents from former Secretary/Treasurer Ed Zasadil. This collection is among the first meaningful addition to the MARTS historical archives meant to portray the history of this 111 year old organization. The MARTS Board of Directors is presently in contact with major museums and universities seeking a suitable repository for all existing historical documentation relating to the organization. |
| 12/1/2012 | The long Range Planning Committee announced today that it has gratefully accepted a donation of MARTS historical documents from Al Glueckert, P.E, of Glueckert Engineering Services Company and a member of the MARTS Board of Directors. This collection is intended to be an addition to the MARTS historical archives meant to portray the history of this 111 year old organization. The MARTS Board of Directors is presently in contact with major museums and universities seeking a suitable repository for all existing historical documentation relating to the organization. |
| 2/21/2012 | The MARTS Board of Directors has announced the dates for the 2012 Railcar technical Technical Conference to be September 22 to 25 in Chicago, IL at the Sheraton Chicago. These dates are consistent with a Railway supply Institute indoor trade show planned to be held at the same location. Also meeting on these dates at the Sheraton Chicago are the Air Brake Association, Locomotive Maintenance Officers Association and the International Association Railroad Operating Officers. |
| 3/1/2012 | At its last meeting, the MARTS Board of directors made the decision to donate funds to the Railway Supply Association (RSI) Scholarship Fund. The Board felt that the scholarships offered by the RSI are a worthy cause which deserve support by our non-profit organization. |

| 3/4/2012 | MARTS President Dennis Weed announced today that the Board of Directors has elected four new members to serve on the MARTS Board of Directors. They are Mike Grey, Assistant Vice President Mechanical, First Union Rail; James H. Rader, Senior Vice President, Watco Companies; Hugh Simon, Superintendent - Mechanical Department, Belt Railway Company of Chicago and Jim Molnar, Manager Coatings - R&D, Union Tank Car Company. President Weed further stated that these gentlemen will be a great resource to the MARTS organization due to their wide range of talents and diversity of skills that are so necessary for the fulfillment of the MARTS Mission. |
